The operating loop

From report to receipt.

Sunset Clean is designed as an operator, not a pass-through donation site. We identify a hotspot, send our own locally staffed team, document the work, and trace the material to its next destination.

Report

A resident or traveler submits a polluted beach, river or drainage point with location and evidence.

Dispatch

A Sunset Clean field lead assigns our crew to a defined zone with a cleanup ID and route.

Measure

Bags are tagged, weighed and documented with timestamps, location data and before/after evidence.

Trace

Sorting, transfer and final handoff are recorded so a cleanup is not complete when the trash simply leaves the beach.

Proof, not promises

Every cleanup becomes an evidence trail.

A cleanup record should answer the questions vague impact reports do not: Where did the crew work? Who was there? What was collected? What did it weigh? Where did it go next? What did the site look like afterward?

The public dashboard will show cleanup IDs, GPS and timestamps, bag-level weigh-ins, photos, worker check-ins, sorting outcomes and disposal or recycling receipts.

Cleaning beaches is phase one.

The goal is not to employ people forever picking up the same trash. We start where the problem is visible, then move upstream until less waste reaches the coastline in the first place.

Clean

Own the zone.

Run a paid field crew on one defined coastline. Establish baseline litter levels and prove we can keep the area measurably cleaner.

Collect

Stop leakage earlier.

Add bins and reliable pickup for nearby homes, hotels, restaurants and small businesses where the operating model supports it.

Intercept

Move upstream.

Use cleanup data to identify high-volume rivers and drainage channels, then deploy appropriate capture systems before debris reaches the ocean.

Process

Control the handoff.

Develop sorting and transfer capability so reusable materials, organics and residual waste follow documented downstream paths.

First pilot

We plan to begin with a tightly defined Indonesian pilot rather than spread thin. The first team will establish the operating playbook: staffing, safety, equipment, collection routes, weighing, sorting, disposal verification and repeat cleanliness scoring.

Why this exists

Sunset Clean began during a family trip to Indonesia. The point is not to blame communities or assume nobody is trying. The point is to build an operation where results do not depend on blind trust, and where local jobs, better collection and transparent infrastructure can compound into cleaner coastlines.
